What's hapenning?

The Queen's Head pub sadly closed in early 2025 — a great loss to the village and the local community.

Following the closure, there was a period of uncertainty while legal and financial matters were settled. During this time, a group of residents began exploring whether the village could take the pub on as a community-owned business. The pub has been registered as an Asset of Community Value.

Two public meetings have since demonstrated overwhelming local support, with generous pledges of financial and practical help from across the community. Sincere thanks to everyone who has supported us so far. There is still much to do, and we will be reliant on the goodwill of volunteers to get the pub into operation. Many hands make light work!

A temporary steering group of volunteers has been formed to do the groundwork — working with the building's agents and getting the ball rolling. It has no long-term role. Once the legal entities have been established, the steering group will dissolve and hand over to an elected board, chosen by the community. Anyone who would like to be involved in that process, or to help in the meantime, is warmly invited to get in touch.

There is a lot of hard work going on in the background to ensure the pub is re-established on a secure and sustainable footing. We will update you with any substantive developments as soon as possible.
